Child drowns in Chandpur

A six-year-old child drowned in a pond while bathing at Haziganj upazila in Chandpur district on Thursday. 

The incident happened at around 12:30 PM at Matoino village under Haziganj Sadar union in the upazila. 

The incident happened at Abir Hossain, son of expatriate Md Eakub Hossain, a resident in the area. 

It was learnt that Abir went to bath in a pond near his house after playing footbalal. At one point, he drowned in the pond. 
Later, family members saw his floating shoes in the pond and informed the Haziganj Fire Service Station. 

On information, divers from Haziganj Fire Service rushed to the spot and recovered his body from the pond.

Confirming it Md Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Haziganj Police Station, said the body was handed over to the family memebers as there were no allegation.
