At least 50 people were injured during a chase and counter-chase between police and studnets in Khulna city on Friday afternoon.

The conflict began when police fired tear shells to disperse students protesting against killings during the recent Quota Reform Movement.

Earlier, the students brought out a procession from the New Market area of the city after Jumma prayers at around 2:00 PM.

When the students reached the Gollamari area, police fired tear gas at them.

In response, students threw brick chips, resulting in a chase and counter-chase.

However, clashes resumed about an hour later when police again tried to disperse the demonstrators.

Despite the efforts of law enforcement, students continued to occupy Zero Point, alleging that police were firing tear gas and rubber bullets at them from the Rupsa Bridge Bypass Road.
