RAJSHAHI, Aug 2: Police arrested a youth on the charge of violating a mentally-disabled woman in Tanore Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested person is Tofazzel Hossain Tofa, 33, son of Habibur Rahman, a resident of Chinasho Sarderpara area under Panchandar Union in the upazila.
The victim, aged about 21, is a mentally-challenged woman.
The victim's mother lodged a case with Tanore Police Station (PS) in the district on Tuesday in the regard.
According to the case statement, Tofazzel Hossain Tofa entered the house of the victim woman while she was alone at around 12 pm on Tuesday, and forcibly violated her there.
Following this, the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area, and arrested Tofazzel Hossain Tofa.
The arrested person was, later, sent to the jail following a court order and the victim woman to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for medical test on Wednesday.
Officer-in-Charge of Tanore PS Abdur Rahim confirmed the matter.
