BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said mass uprising has already started in the country centering the quota reform movement. 'People's victory is at their doorsteps now.'

He made the remark when asked about the latest situation of anti-quota movement after he met the family of jailed standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at his Banani residence in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, "Mass uprising has begun in the country. Perhaps, you have observed that common people have joined the movement of students. Not only the students, but also the guardians, doctors, lawyers, artistes, cultural activists and journalists have joined the movement. They have joined the students' movement ignoring all kinds of fear and intimidation. It is the most significant aspect of the quota reform movement."

The BNP leader observed that people have stood against all kinds of injustice. "I think that the movement has arrived at the doorstep of victory. I firmly believe that people will achieve their victory. Victory of the students is inevitable."

Mirza Fakhrul said, "From the very first day of the movement, we expressed our solidarity with the movement. Now, we can say with firm determination that we will not only support this rational movement of the students, we will extend our all-out cooperation to it. As a political party, we will discharge our duties accordingly and we will continue to do so. We also call upon our leaders and workers across the country that they must extend their all-out support and cooperation to the ongoing students' movement."

The BNP leader said it is absolutely indescribable the government has killed our children. It cannot be expressed in words. They have killed hundreds of students. We have also seen that many of them were buried in mass graves. As many as 59 bodies of students were buried in a single mass grave."
