Families of 14 Barishal people killed in student movement in constant tears

BARISHAL, Aug 3: The cry of bewildered families who lost their near and dear ones in police actions is not stopping. 

So far, 14 unwanted killings occurred in deadly clashes between police and students  in different districts of the country.

 They were from different upazilas of Barishal. 

According to data available from local public representatives and police, the murdered people are three students, one Saudi immigrant, and 10 service holders.

Barishal District Superintendent of Police (SP) said, these 14 people died in separate clashes in Dhaka and other districts. 
"We arranged their burying in their own places," the SP added.

Relatives and locals said, on July 16, college student Faisal Ahmed Shanta, 20, was shot down in Muradpur area of Sholoshahor in Chattogram; he was son of Zakir Hossain of Manikkathi Village at Rahmatpur Union of Babuganj Upazila.

Abdullah Al Abir, 22, son of Mizanuir Rahman Bachchu of Khudrakathi Village at Baherchar Union of the same upazila received bullet injury in Dhaka and died in July 19. He was a staff of North South University. 

On the same day, Shaon Khan, 14, son of Zakir Khan of Panbaria Village in Mehendiganj Upazila died after being bullet-hit. He was a hotel employee at Rampura in Dhaka. 

Md Shahin, 20, son of Md Hasan of Khunna-Gobindapur area in Hizla Upazila was bullet-hit and died on the same day. He was a college student.

On the day, another college student Noman Sardar, 18, son of Naymed Sardar of Char Debua Village  at Hizla died from bullet-hit in Dhaka.

On July 19, Md Jasim Uddin, 35, son of Abdul Mannan of Purba Soliabakpur in Banaripara Upazila died in Dhaka's Uttara. He would work in a car garage.

On the same day, Md Al Amin Roni, 24, son of Md Dulal Hawladar of Betal Village in the same upazila died in firing in Mahakhali area. He would work in stationary shop.

Shaon Sikdar, son of Selim Sikdar of Boloikathi Village at Charadi Union of Bakerganj Upazila died in firing in  Iden College area on the day.

On the same day, Rabiul Islam, 20, son of Abdul Latif Sardar of Shakbunia Village in the same upazila, died in firing in Shonir Akhra area of Dhaka. He was a technician of a electronics shop in Gendaria area in Dhaka.

On July 20, Imran Khalifa, 26, son of Nazrul Islam Khalifa of Kalna Village in Gouranadi Upazila died in firing in Dhaka's Shahjahanpur area. He was security guard of a private institute.

On the same day, Saudi immigrant Jamal, 37, son of Mahsin Sikdar of Hosnabad Village at Gouranadi died in firing in Shonir Akhra area. He was on the way to airport for leaving for Saudi Arabia.

On the day, Odud Akon, 40, son of Taher Akon of Kabiraj Village at Dudhol Union in Bakerganj Upazila died in firing. He was a tailor.

Suman Sikdar, 35, son of Yusuf Sikdar of Kobai Union in the upazila died in firing on the day. He was a car driver.
On July 21, Md Rakib, 21, son of Mosharref Hossain of Jammu Dwip area of Banaripara died in firing in Fatulla area of Narayanganj. He was a garments worker.

His father Mosharref Hossain said, Rakib was married six months back; his mother is a heart-disease patient; and his elder brother is handicapped.

"Our family would run on his money; now our daughter-in-law Jannat became widow," he added. "Our dream broke into pieces. We don't know how would our family run in future," he added.

Mariam Bewgum, mother of Roni who died at Mohakhali, said, "All things became scattered; before seeing the light of world, Roni's un-born baby became orphan; Roni's father Dulal Haldar died much before; so, Roni was our only earner; our family would run on his earning; we don't  know how our family will run in coming days."

Sahabuddin, younger brother of deceased Jasim, said, "He was second of our four brothers; three others would also do jobs in Dhaka and Chattogram; their wives and children live in village with our mother; he would send money; we have nothing but the home land piece only."

His wife Sumi Aktar said, "What I will do with my small children? Where to go? I know nothing."

Selim Sikdar, father of killed Shaon Sikdar of Bakerganj, said, "Shaon was elder among four children; I have a matured daughter. I would save some money for her   marriage; Shaon would send money for running our family; now who will send us money?"

Wife of deceased Imran Khalifa of Gouranadi Shanta Aktar said, "He took me to Dhaka and suffered a lot; after getting the job, we were happy; now who  will see my children?"
