At least 13 policemen were killed in Sirajganj's Enayetpur Police Station o Sunday.
The agitators have been accused of attacking Enayetpur Police Station in Sirajganj and setting it on fire.
Rajshahi Range Additional DIG Bijay Basak confirmed it.
Enayetpur Hat Committee Vice President Moktar Hossain said, "At around 11am, some 3,000-4,000 protestors and BNP-Jamaat activists started vandalising surrounding the police station. At one stage, the police went up to the rooftop and fired rubber bullets, tear shells and bullets in self-defence, injuring more than 50 protesters.''
Later, they entered the police station and attacked the policemen. At that time, the policemen were severely beaten and seriously injured with local made weapons and batons. One by one, they all died without treatment at the police station premises, he added.
Sirajganj Police Super Arifur Rahman Mondal said the incident of Enayetpur Police Station is shocking. Attempts are being made to identify the names and designations of the policemen killed in the beating of the protesters and recover the bodies.
