14 policemen killed in terrorist attacks in Sirajganj, Cumilla

Fourteen policemen were killed in attacks by miscreants in Enayetpur Police Station under Sirajganj district and Eliotganj Highway Police Station under Cumilla district.

Police headquarters said a total of 14 policemen have been killed across the country with a total of 13 at Enayatpur in Sirajganj, said the police headquarters. One policeman has been killed at Eliotganj in Cumilla, it added.
At least 13 policemen, who were stationed at the Enayetpur Police Station in Sirajganj, were killed in a terrorist attack on Sunday, said the police headquarters.

Besides, it revealed the death of another policeman in a similar attack in Cumilla. He was stationed at the Eliotganj Highway Police Station.

The police headquarters disclosed this in a message in the afternoon on Sunday.  

It was the first day of a complete non-cooperation movement declared by the Students Against Discrimination. Clashes have taken place in different districts throughout the day, which led to hundreds of casualties.

Rajshahi Range Police Additional Deputy Inspector General (operations and crime) Bijoy Basak, said a team of army personnel had gone to the spot at around 7:00pm. 

Other members of law enforcing agencies accompanied them. They found 11 dead bodies at the police station. Two bodies found in a pond. A number of policemen are still missing. The protesters vandalized and torched the residences of Awami League lawmakers Md Habibe Millat and Merina Jahan elected from Sirajganj-2 and 6 seats. 

Offices of Deputy Commissioner and Sadar upazila Assistant Commissioner (AC-Land) were ransacked.
 
Several police outposts and Hatikumrul Highway Police Station also came under attack. Besides, the protesters besieged Belkuchi Police Station.
