The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a strong advisory for Indian nationals, urging them to refrain from traveling to Bangladesh until further notice.
The advisory, released on August 4, amid escalating unrest in Bangladesh, it also instructs Indian citizens currently in Bangladesh to exercise extreme caution, limit their movements, and stay in close contact with the High Commission of India in Dhaka.
"All Indian nationals presently in Bangladesh are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements, and remain in contact with the High Commission of India in Dhaka through their emergency phone numbers: 8801958383679, 8801958383680, 8801937400591," stated the MEA.
The MEA's directive comes in response to the deteriorating security situation in Bangladesh, marked by widespread protests and violence. The Ministry emphasised the importance of staying informed and vigilant during this period of heightened tension.
The Indian government is closely monitoring the developments in Bangladesh and has assured continuous support to its nationals through the High Commission's emergency contact channels.
The MEA's notification follows a series of violent protests in Bangladesh, which have led to significant disruptions and concerns over public safety. The Indian government remains committed to safeguarding its citizens and will provide further updates as the situation evolves.
