The Rangpur Division Sports Council has reinstated Arifa Jahan Bithi as the Manager of the Rangpur Divisional Women's Cricket team.

Bithi was previously dismissed following accusations of being an "anti-government activist" after she showed support for the family of Abu Sayeed, a martyr of the anti-discrimination movement.

Earlier, Bithi shared a post on social media about her dismissal and discussed the matter with a reporter. The reporter then communicated with Advocate Anwarul Islam, General Secretary of the Rangpur Divisional Sports Council, who assured that Bithi would be reinstated upon further instructions. The Daily Observer published a news article on the issue on Thursday.

However, Bithi informed the reporter at late Thursday night that she had been reinstated and expressed her gratitude to the Daily Observer for supporting her.

Bithi runs a women's cricket academy, the first of its kind in Bangladesh. Players from her academy participate in various domestic events, including the Premier League, NCL, First Division, Second Division and age-level teams.

She has served as the manager of the Rangpur Division Women's Cricket team, the Under-16 Women's Cricket team and the Rangpur Division team in the Women's National Cricket League (NCL).

On July 17 and 18, Bithi joined the anti-discrimination movement. On July 17, she visited the family of Abu Sayeed (the first martyr of the movement) to offer financial support and returned the next day to distribute biscuits and water among the students involved in the movement on the following day.
