PABNA, Aug 8: Three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bera Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
The accident took place in New Market area on the Kashinathpur-Kajirhat road under Aminpur Police Station (PS) of the upazila at around 9:30 pm.
One of the deceased was identified as Salvi Islam, 23, son of Monirul Islam, a resident of Bedundia Village in Ishwardi Upazila and a student of Rajshahi University. However, the identities of the other two deceased could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Aminpur PS Harunur Rashid said that a CNG-run auto-rickshaw with passengers on its board was heading towards to Kashinathpur from Kazirhat in Bera Upazila. On the way, Kazirhat-bound a bus of 'Hasan Paribahan' coming from the opposite direction hit the auto-rickshaw in New Market area on the Kashinathpur-Kajirhat road at night, which left the auto-rickshaw overturned. Three passengers including a child of the auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot and two others injured at that time.
All the bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsies.
The two injured were admitted to Bera Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
