DRU demands reopening closed media outlets immediately

Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has demanded immediate reopening of all closed media outlets and brought attackers on the journalists and media offices to book.

According to a statement issued by the DRU on Thursday evening, the DRU leaders demanded reopening of all media outlets-Dainik Amar Desh, Dainik Dinkal, Channel I, Islamic TV, CSB and Diganta TV, which were closed without proper channel since long.

In the statement President of the DRU Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo and General Secretary Mohi Uddin strongly condemned and protested the attacks on journalists and vandalism of various media including ATN News, ATN Bangla, DBC News, Time TV, Ekattor TV, My TV, Mohana TV, Daily News, Daily Bangla Bazar Patrika, Daily Amader Arthoniti, Daily Amader Notun Samoy and Our Times.

They also urged to bring the attackers and killers of all journalists during the recent student movement.

The DRU leaders demanded immediate trial of the cases filed over the killing of journalists including DRU members Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi.
They also demanded punishment of those who were involved in arson attacks and vandalism on media outlets and looting valuables.

The DRU leaders sought cooperation from all to continue professional duties of journalists peacefully.

They said that the media was not opponent of anyone. Media always try to publish and broadcast news of all sections.
