Thousands of members of Hindu community, including students, blocked the Shahbagh intersection in the capital for the second consecutive day on Saturday to protest the recent wave of communal violence and to press home their four-point demand.
The protesters gathered at Shahbagh around 3PM with banners, posters and placards.
They were protesting attacks on the homes, shops, and temples of the Hindu community across country following the fall of the AL government.
They chanted slogans "Religion is for individuals, the state is for everyone," and "Ensure the safety of Hindus".
The protesters have warned that if immediate measures are not taken to stop the persecution of Hindus, they will go for continuous protest programmes.
The protesters demanded the formation of a minority affairs ministry, the establishment of a minority protection commission, the enactment and enforcement of stringent laws to prevent all forms of attacks on minorities, the reservation of 10 per cent of parliamentary seats for minorities.
