Additional Director of Lalmonirhat Teesta Battalion (BGB-61) Major AFM Zulkar Nayeem on Saturday said a widespread rumors of attacks on minorities are being spread across the country.
Confirming the information, he said," There have been no attacks on minorities in any part of the country. A vested group is spreading the rumors in an attempt to destabilize the nation, which caused a rush of people to the border areas. However, the people have now understood that these were just rumors."
He made these remarks during a press conference held at the Hatibandha Police Station conference room, attended by OC Md. Mahfuzar Rahman, along with police and BGB personnel on Saturday.
Addressing the minority communities, Major AFM Zulkar Nayeem said, "There is no need to be feared as no attacks have taken place. We assure you that there will be no attacks, and you can stay safely in your homes. Stay in touch with us, and we will ensure your safety."
He further emphasized the importance of providing security to all citizens, regardless of their religion, stating, "Whether Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, or any other religion, we are all Bangladeshis."
He also urged the police and all other administrative bodies to work together.
