Road mishaps claim 4 lives in Narail, M'bazar

Four people including two women were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in two districts - Narail and Moulvibazar, on Thursday.

NARAIL: A young woman was killed when a bus hit her motorcycle on the Narail-Jashore highway in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Ayesha Sultana, 23, hailed from Bagherpara Upazila of Jashore District.

It was known that the accident occurred at around 8 pm when Ayesha was heading towards Chanchra area of Tularampur Union in Narail from Bagherpara in Jashore riding on a motorbike. On the way, a passenger-laden bus hit the motorcycle on the Narail-Jashore highway, which left her dead on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and handed it over to the deceased's family members without an autopsy upon their request.

Officer-in-Charge of Narail Sadar Police Station Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the incident. 

SREEMANGAL, MOULVIBAZAR: Three members of a family were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Sreemangal Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The accident took place on the Moulvibazar-Sylhet highway under the upazila in the afternoon
The deceased were identified as Nazma Begum, 35, Hasan Ahmed, 17, and Fahad Alam, 12. All of them were residents of Mirnagar area under Kalapur Union in the upazila.

According to local sources, the accident occurred on the Moulvibazar-Sylhet highway when a minibus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Thursday afternoon. 

Two passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot and four others were critically injured at that time.

Locals then rescued the injured and rushed them to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where another succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The three injured are being treated at Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

Moulvibazar Fire Service and Civil Defence official Abu Tahel confirmed the incident.
