Thousand ready-made garments factory (RMG) workers blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway demanding reopening of their factory.

Around 9:00 AM on Monday, the workers from Apparel Plus Limited began demonstration in Chandana Chowrasta area in Gazipur.
The protest led to a traffic standstill from 9:45 AM, according to Traffic Police Officer Al Mamun, who was on duty in the area. Normal traffic flow resumed around 11:00 AM.

Protesting workers alleged that their factory had been closed by the owner on July 17, and they were demanding its reopening. They also insisted on receiving their overdue salaries.

Efforts to reach Shahadat Hossain, the owner of Apparel Plus Limited, for comments were unsuccessful.

Gazipur Industrial police inspector Rezaul Haque said that the garment factory has been closed under Section 13/1, and the workers are protesting to have it reopened.
