Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) said on Monday said that, respect the spirit of July Massacre and stay away to observe 15th August as National Day of Mourning.

AB party said it at a press release after meeting with the Chief Advisor of Dr Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna.
AB Party delegation said, celebrating goes against the spirit of Proclamation of Independence and July Uprising.

AB Party delegation said that the chief Advisor and his team is an extraordinary government that took over following the mass uprising and ouster of the last dictatorial regime.

"Therefore, the mood and feelings of the student and young protesters on the street should be respected. It would be quite contrary to that feeling to attempt to celebrate such a day attached to the recently fled lady dictator," the press release added.

It said, "Our glorious proclamation of independence, read on 17th April 1971, had clearly outlined the aspiration of the country a people's republic rather than a family or party dynasty, akin to dictatorship."

The delegation was led by AFM Sulaiman Chowdhury, AB Party Convenor and a retired bureaucrat, where Mojibur Rahman Monju, Member Secretary, Asaduzzaman Fuaad, a barrister-at-law and Joint Member Secretary, were in attendance. Prof. Asif Nazrul, Adeelur Rahman and Farida Akhter, advisors to the interim government, were also present in the meeting.
