Home Affairs adviser of Interim Government , Brigadier General (Retd) M. Sakhawat Hossain has firmly stated that BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) members will not any longer retreat from borders.

The home advisor made a firm declaration while speaking to the media at around 11.45 AM on Tuesday after visiting BGB members undergoing treatment at Pilkhana BGB Headquarters Hospital.

The home advisor criticized previous practice of instructing BGB forces to stand down during border incidents. "When our people have been attacked at the border, BGB was forced into flag meetings. They crossed into our territory, attacked us, and we were told to hold flag meetings and declare everything was resolved. I've instructed BGB, ‘No more showing your backs. Enough is enough,’" he asserted.

He further expressed frustration, saying, "A force like BGB has been demonized. Not just BGB, but also police, RAB, and Ansar have been turned into demons. These forces belong to the nation, not to any individual. As long as I am here, I will ensure justice is upheld."

Sakhawat Hossain also warned that he was not just making empty promises. "Some may think I’m just talking, but be assured, i will punish whoever violate orders or engaged in corrupt practices. We have already taken some actions. These forces have been corrupted by an authoritarian regime. They were the ones who told BGB to retreat at border. BGB’s role is to protect the border, and this will not be allowed to happen again, Insha'Allah," he stated.

When asked about the dismissal of listed corrupt police officers, he responded, "There is a government process in place, and it is being followed. The recommendation file has already been sent to the President. Whether they remain in service or not will be discussed. As long as I am here, I will ensure justice is served."

In response to a question about the recent fire at BTV, the Home Advisor said, "There was a fire at the TV station. Now we are hearing that it may have originated from inside. We still don't know who set the fire. Those responsible for the broadcast should investigate to find out who started the fire."
