A youth reportedly hacked to death over a dispute relating to drug trafficking at Singair upazila in Manikganj district on Monday night.
The incident occurred late Monday night in Char-Kanainagar area of Saesta Union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Saddam Hossain, 25, son of Aiyub Khan and a resident of Niltek area in the union. He was a CNG driver by profession.
Locals said there was ongoing conflict between Saddam and one Miraz Hossain over drug trading related issues.
CNG driver named Saddam Hossain (25) was brutally killed in a dispute over drug trafficking. The dispute was initially resolved through local arbitration on Monday afternoon.
However, later that night, Miraz Hossain and his men lured Saddam Hossain to Char-Kanainagar, where they engaged in a violent confrontation. Miraz and his group attacked Saddam with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene.
Saddam was found in a critical condition and taken to Singair Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared as dead by the on-duty doctor.
Singair Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Ziaurul Islam confirmed the death and added that the body has been sent to Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
"A case is being processed at the police station, and initial investigations suggest that the murder was linked to disputes over drug trading," he added.
