Three people have been found dead in separate incidents in three districts - Jashore, Narayanganj and Sunamganj, in three days.
SHARSHA, JASHORE: Police recovered the body of a man from the bank of the Ichhamati River near Putkhali frontier in Sharsha Upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Khulna 21 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion's Commanding Officer Lt Col Khurshid Anwar said locals spotted the body of the man lying on the bank of the Ichhamati River near Putkhali frontier under Benapole Port Police Station (PS) in the upazila at noon and informed the BGB.
The BGB personnel then informed the matter to police. Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The body bore several injury marks on its different parts. Police suspected that the man might have been hacked to dead by miscreants about two days back.
NARAYANGANJ: Naval Police and members of Bangladesh Coasy Guard (BCG) recovered the body of a businessman from the Buriganga River at Fatullah in the city on Monday after two days of his missing.
The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, son of Quddus Bepari, a resident of Purba Agaghar area in Keraniganj of Dhaka. He was a garments trader by profession.
The deceased's daughter Sumaiya said that her father went out of the house on Saturday afternoon to go to New Market in Dhaka, but did not return. The family members searched him various areas but could not find him. They also informed the matter to Keraniganj PS.
Later on, his body was found floating in the Buriganga River adjacent to Mawlaghat area at Fatullah of Narayanganj on Monday.
Being informed, Naval Police and BCG recovered the body from the river and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The deceased's daughter alleged that her father beat up a drug dealer, named Sumon, in front of their house recently as Sumon was consuming drugs there. Following this, Sumon might gave killed her father, Sumaiya added.
Sub-Inspector of Pagla Naval Police Outpost Yaar Ali confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and legal action would be taken after getting the autopsy report.
JAGANNATHPUR, SUNAMGANJ: The hanging body of a construction worker was recovered from his residence in Jagannathpur Upazila of the district on Sunday.
His body was sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Alamin Mia, 22, son of late Nurul Islam, a resident of Hargram Village under Pailgaon Union in the upazila.
Quoting the deceased's family members, police said Alamin was alone in the house on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, the family members found his body hanging with a scarf from the ceiling of his room in the house.
Pailgaon Union Parishad (UP) Chairman (Acting) Md Nazmuddin said that the body bore an injury mark on its wrist, and blood stained across the room. Seeing this, locals got suspicious, and following this, the body was kept at Jagannathpur Upazila Health Complex instead of burial as the police were on work absentia.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased received some pictures and chat video of the incident through WhatsApp the next day. After seeing the pictures and the video, the family members assumed it as an incident of murder, the UP chairman added.
Later on, police recovered the body from Jagannathpur Upazila Health Complex and sent it to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Tuesday morning.
Jagannathpur PS OC Aminul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that the actual reason behind the death of the youth would be known after getting the autopsy report.
