One killed, 50 hurt in Rangpur jail clash

A man was killed and over 50 injured in a clash between two groups of inmates at Rangpur Central Jail early Friday.

Sources said prison guards fired shots to bring the situation under control around 12.30pm on Friday.

Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mobasher Hasan acknowledging the matter said assistance from the army and police is being sought.

The detailed information about the incident could not be received immediately.
