Youth 'beaten to death' in Barishal

A youth was beaten to death by miscreants at Gaurnadi upazila in Barishal district on Friday night. 

The deceased was identified as Rashed Sikdar, 24, son of Kamal Sikdar, a resident of Boro Dulali village in the upazila. 

Locals said Rashed live in Dhaka. Recently, he has come to village for visiting. Some youths demanded money from him illegally. On Friday ( August 16) evening, he was beaten mercilessly as he denied to give them money. He then critically injured. 

Later, he was rescued and taken to Gaurnadi Upazila Health Complex. After that, he was referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment. He died there while undergoing treatment.

Confirming it Md Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Gaurnadi Police Station, said legal steps are under process in this regard.
