Fake freedom fighters will be punished: Farooq

Farooq-e-Azam, the advisor to the liberation war affairs and disaster management ministries, said that fake freedom fighters will be punished for defrauding the state.

He told this while responding to a question after a meeting on law and order situation at the Chattogram Circuit House on Saturday afternoon.

He said those who became freedom fighters with fake certificates will be brought under the law. 
They have enjoyed state allowance for so long. They would be punished for ‘deceiving’ the state.

He said the ministry will verity the issue and those who are genuine freedom fighters will remain on the list. The fake ones will be dropped. Many of them should be punished for their misdeed.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Saiful Islam, Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Fakhruzzaman and other senior officials of different law enforcement agencies of Chattogram were present on the occasion.
