A college employee was killed and another injured in a road accident at Fulbari upazila in Kurigram district in Friday.
The accident occurred around 2:30 PM on Friday on the Fulbari-Balarhat road in the Chararpar area.
The deceased was identified as Nazir Hossain, 55, a fourth-grade employee of Fulbari Women’s Degree College and a resident of Kabirmamud village. The injured motorcyclist is Jayakanta, 30, son of Dinesh Chandra from Uttar Shimulbari village.
According to reports, Nazir Hossain was traveling by autorickshaw from Fulbari to Balarhat. As the autorickshaw reached at Chararpar area, it collided head-on with a high-speed motorcycle coming from opposite direction. Both Nazir Hossain and the motorcyclist, Jayakanta, sustained critical injuries in the crash.
Locals rushed them to Fulbari Upazila Health Complex where Dr. Homayra declared Nazir Hossain dead.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Jayakanta was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Fulbari Police Station officer-in-charge Nawabur Rahman confirmed that they had received reports of the fatal accident. Legal action will be taken upon receiving a complaint.
