A case has been filed with a Dhaka court against 34 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, for mass killing firing indiscriminately on Hefazat-e-Islam's rally in Motijheel's Shapla Chattar on May 5, 2013.

Mohammad Babul Sardar Chakhari, chairman of Bangladesh People's Party, lodged the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zaki Al Farabi on Sunday.

After recording the statement of the complaint, the Magistrate asked Motijheel Police Station's acting officer to file the case.
Other accused include former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, adviser to former PM  Salman F Rahman, Dhaka south city corporation mayor Fazle Nur Tapash, former lawmakers Rashed Khan Memon.

Hefazat-e-Islam took position at Shapla Chattar on May 5, 2013, as the government ignored their 13-point demands.

Police and army personnel killed madrasa students and padestrians indiscriminately from 11pm to 11am on the following day blocking the road and cutting off the electric lines there.
