A Supreme Court lawyer on Sunday (August 18) served a legal notice on Law Adviser and Law Secretary to take steps against former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque, reports BSS.

Senior advocate Fauzia Karim Firoze of the Supreme Court served the legal notice.
She said the notice was sent by post.

The notice states that several elections were held after the incorporation of caretaker government provision in the constitution. When the last government came to power in December 2008, the situation had suddenly turned grave and the caretaker goverment provision was raised deliberately before the judiciary. Being politically motivated, the then chief justice ABM Khairul Haque termed the caretaker government provision in the constitution as "unnecessary and unconstitutional." His judgement abolishing the caretaker government provision from the constitution was released 16 months after his retirement. The judgement gave birth to dirty culture in Bangladesh.

The notice has mentioned that Khairul Haque was the "architect of all unrest and political instability in Bangladesh."

It also has observed that Khairul Haque has not only violated the constitution, but planted the saplings of rampant corruption and brutality. He made all the institutions corrupt, reduced the morality of the administration, and made the judiciary corrupt.

Taking the significance of these complaints into consideration, the notice requested the persons concerned to take necessary legal measures against Khairul Haque.
