COX'S BAZAR: A case has been filed against former lawmaker and whip of Jatiya Sangsad Saimum Sarwar Kamal and 150 others over the death of a youth during the quota reform movement in the district.
Sub-Inspector of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station (PS) Md Selim Mia filed the case with the PS on Saturday being the plaintiff.
Officer-in-Charge of of the PS Md Rakibuzzaman said that the other accused in the case includes Shahinul Haque Marshal, chairman of Cox's Bazar Zilla Parishad, his brother Kaisarul Haque Jewel, former chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad, District AL general secretary (GS) Mujibur Rahman, Cox's Bazar Municipal Unit of Chhatra League president Hasan Tarek, Cox's Bazar Municipality mayor Mahabubur Rahman Chowdhury, District Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain and its GS Maruf Adnan.
According to the case statement, on August 4 last, the accused attacked and opened fire in Gungach Tala area in the district town during the quota reform movement, which killed an unidentified youth on the spot.
