BSCL suspends Green TV's broadcast over unpaid dues

Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd (BSCL) suspended Green TV's broadcast service temporarily due to repeated failures to settle outstanding payments and breaches of conditions outlined in previous notices.
Green TV will have its broadcast service reinstated upon full settlement of the outstanding dues within a specified timeframe. Otherwise, BSCL will terminate the existing contract and take legal measures to recover the overdue payments, says a press release.
Previously, Green TV's service had been suspended four times due to similar issues. However, after promises to settle the outstanding bills, the service was resumed each time.
In addition to satellite broadcast services, Green TV has a contract with BSCL for Television Rating Point (TRP) services. Since May 2024, their TRP services have been suspended due to non-payment of bills, and the process to cancel this contract is currently underway.
BSCL is also working to recover overdue payments from several other client organisations. If these accounts do not show significant improvement, BSCL may take similar measures against other clients, the press release added.
