Mosharraf  acquitted in ACC case

BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was acquitted by a Dhaka Court on Thursday in a case filed on charges of laundering over Tk 9.53 crore to the United Kingdom.

Dhaka's Special Judge Court-1 Judge Md Abul Kashem delivered the judgement in presence of Mosharraf Hossain, former health minister and as the prosecution is unable to prove the charges brought against Mosharraf.

The defence and the prosecution completed their arguments. 

Earlier  the court recorded statements of nine prosecution witnesses, including the complainant of the case.

The same court framed charges on October 28 in 2015 against Mosharraf in the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on February 6 in 2014 sued Mosharraf for laundering over Tk 9.53 crore to the United Kingdom.

An ACC enquiry  found that the money was kept at a joint bank account of Mosharraf and his wife Bilkis Akhter with Lloyds TSB Offshore Private Banking, St Peterport, Guernsey, Channel Island, GY 14EN, UK.
