Justice Manik, Menon, Inu sued for maligning Zia

A  case was filed with  Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate(CMM) court on Thursday  against AHM  Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, a former judge of Bangladesh Supreme Court,   Workers Party  President  Rashed Khan Menon and  JSD  President Hasanul Haque Inu  for making derogatory remarks about BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman.

After hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report after an investigation.

According to the petition of the complainant,  Justice Manik made derogatory comments about Ziaur Rahman on October 3, 2022 at a  talk show aired by "Channel i", in which  Manik said "Ziaur Rahman was not a freedom fighter , he was a Razakar" .

 Menon and Inu made derogatory comments on Zia on July 19,2013 in another Talk show. Besides this the accused made derogatory comments about Zia's  family.

Referring the case, the complainant lawyer Advocate Tariqul Islam said that the accused persons made derogatory comments to malign Ziaur Rahman. These comments, widely disseminated through print, electronic, and social media, drew public criticism.
