The High Court (HC) on Thursday cleared all legal bars on broadcasting and publishing speech or statement of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman as the court discharged the matter for non-prosecution.

Confirming the news to reporters, Tarique's counsel Barrister Kaiser Kamal said as a result of today's order, now there is no legal bar in broadcasting or publishing the speech or statement of the BNP leader in the media.

A High Court division bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order after holding hearing on plea filed by the petitioner for non-prosecution.

The High Court on January 7, 2015, banned publishing, broadcasting or reproducing speeches and statements of Tarique Rahman in all print, electronic and social media as long as he remains absconding.    —BSS
