Some 757 Sub Inspector (SI) and Sergeants of Bangladesh Police whose recruitment was cancelled in 2007 demanded their jobs.
They made this demand at a press conference at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Friday.
In a written statement at the press conference, SM Sujan Chowdhury said, "In 2007, the then IGP Noor Mohammad and Benazir Ahmed Gong cancelled the final recruitment of 536 SI and 221 sergeants."
He said, "All the candidates selected in 2005 and 2006 were denied jobs while waiting to join the Police Training Academy. But the then police chief suddenly cancelled our recruitment without any reason."
"Unable to join the job, we later filed a writ petition before the High Court," said Sujan.
He said, "Even in the High Court, 757 job aspirants were deprived of justice. After failing to get job many of our candidates joined alternative employments, but most of us are living a inhumane life."
Another police member Muhammad Ali Jinnah said in a press conference, "At that time it was our fault that we did not support Awami League."
"Today we are requesting the Chief Adviser of the interim government to recruit us in our designated posts in the Bangladesh Police.
