Bangladesh held a 94-run lead over Pakistan at the end of Day 4 of the first Test in the two-match series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan on Saturday. The hosts were at 23 for one in their second innings after Bangladesh posted an enormous 565-run total in their first innings.

The Tigers dominated in Rawalpindi with a lead of 117 runs on top of Pakistan's 448-run first innings, although they lost the wicket of Liton Das early in the day. Liton added just four runs to his overnight score of 52, ending a 114-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim.

Mushfiqur on the other hand, continued his dominance from the previous day's 55, reaching a century before the tea break. He then formed a 196-run partnership with number-eight batter Mehidy Hasan Miraz, which is Bangladesh's biggest partnership for the seventh wicket in Tests.

Bangladesh's Mr. Dependable Mushfiqur, came close to his fourth double century but fell just nine runs short scoring 191 runs off 341 balls with 22 fours and one six. It was his 11th Test century and first against Pakistan. Mushfiqur became the third Bangladeshi to score a century in Tests on Pakistani soil following in the footsteps of Habibul Bashar and Javed Omar. With this century, Mushfiqur surpassed Tamim Iqbal, who has 10 Test centuries. Only Mominul Haque, with 12 tons, has more Test centuries for Bangladesh than Mushfiqur.

Miraz continued his composed batting until he was dismissed for 77, marking his seventh fifty in Tests. However, Hasan Mahmud failed to score but Shoriful Islam played aggressively, hitting two fours and two sixes to add 22 runs off 14 balls before being dismissed as Bangladesh's 10th wicket. Earlier in Bangladesh's innings, Shadman Islam scored 93 and Mominul Haque added 50.

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah took three wickets, while Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi each claimed two wickets, with Saim Ayub taking the remaining one.

In reply, Pakistan lost the wicket of Ayub early in their second innings as the opener scored just one run off three balls. Shoriful Islam claimed Ayub's wicket. Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood remained unbeaten on 12 and nine runs respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first inviting Pakistan to bat. The hosts declared their first innings at 448 runs for six wickets with brilliant batting performances from Saud Shakeel (141), Mohammad Rizwan (unbeaten 171) and Ayub (56).
