15 shops burnt at Gouripur

GOURIPUR, MYMENSINGH, Aug 24: At least 15 shops were gutted by fire that broke out in Gouripur Upazila of the district early Friday.

The fire originated from a tea stall at Shamganj Bazar in the upazila at around 3:30 am.
Locals said that they discovered the tea stall on fire, and the flames quickly spread to adjacent shops.

On information, firefighters from Netrakona's Purbadhala and Mymensingh's Gouripur Fire Service stations rushed to the scene and doused the blaze with the help of locals.

Meanwhile, the fire destroyed 15 shops along with cash and goods.

The fire service officials assumed that the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.
