Local people including leaders and workers of BNP and its front organizations formed an hour-long human chain in front of Netrakona Municipality on Wednesday, demanding trial and capital punishment for the killers of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) leader Mohammad Amzad.
The human chain was addressed, among others, by former president of Netrakona District BNP Advocate Nuruzzaman Nuru, Jatiotabadi Swecchashebak Dal District Unit President Solaiman Hassan Rubel, Acting President of District Unit of JCD Sarwar Alam Alin and its General Secretary Anik Mahbub Chowdhory.
The speakers said, on May 22, 2018, a police team led by the then officer-in-charge of Netrakona Model Police Station Mohammed Borhan Uddin, with the help of their accomplices, picked up the Netrakona District JCD leader Amzad from his Hussainpur road residence.
Later on, police gunned him down in Borowari area in Netrakona Sadar Upazila in the name of cross fire, they alleged.
The speakers drew the attention of the interim government to take necessary measures for quickly starting the Amzad killing case and giving exemplary punishment for the killers.
