Parwar hopes govt withdraws ban on Jamaat soon

KHULNA, Aug 24: Secretary General of Jammat-e-Islami Bangladesh Mia Golam Parwar hoped that the interim government will soon withdraw ban on Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh imposed by fallen Awami League (AL) government.

"Ban on the Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir imposed by through an executive order of fallen Awami League (AL) government can't be legal," he said.

Parwar said this while exchange views with local journalists at the AL Faruk Society auditorium in the city Friday night.

"We expect that interim government will return Jamaat's registration very soon as both the Interim Government and Bangladesh Army evaluated the party after ousting of the fascist Awami League government on August 5," he said.

Jamaat leader accused Awami League for grabbing the AL Faruk Society auditorium which was used to arrange meetings of the party, saying they (AL) looted huge money, valuables from there and tried to kill Jamaat-Shibir workers.

He urged countrymen to be united against the conspiracy of defeated forces side by side stand beside the distressed people of the flood affected areas.

Organised by city unit Jamaat-e-Islami, the meeting was addressed, among others, by member of central Majlish-e-Sura and city unit Jamaat Ameer Mahfuzur Rahman, central working committee member and assistant director of Khulna zone Moulana Abul Kalam Azad.    —BSS
