Jubo league leader shot dead in Munshiganj

A local Jubo League leader was shot to death by miscreants in Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan upazila on Saturday night over a land dispute.

The incident occurred at 11:30 PM in the Malamat area under Malkhanagar union in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Nasir Sheikh, 45, a resident of the area and a member of  Malkhanagar union Juno League unit.

It was learnt that Nasir was shot in front of Malamot Jame Masjid while returning home on Saturday night, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took him to Ishapur Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Nasir's brother, Selim Sheikh, claimed that two sons of Nuru Sheikh, Babu and Noyan, killed his brother in a planned attack over a land dispute.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Munshiganj hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Muzahidul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sirajdikhan Police Station.
 
The murdered might have occurred due to land dispute, the police official added.
