A man and his wife died from electrocution at Tangail's Ghatail upazila on Sunday.

The accident took place in the morning at Hamkura (Amtala) village under Rasulpur union.
The dead were farmer Arshed Ali, 65, and his wife Rahima Begum, 52, of that village.

According to locals, farmer Arshed cultivated sugarcane next to his house. He built electric traps around the sugarcane field to prevent theft of sugarcane from the field and protect it from foxes. In the morning, Rahima Begum came in contact with the electric wire of the trap when she went to the field carelessly without turning off the electricity connection. Her husband Arshad went to save her and was also electrocuted. The two died on the spot.

Later, police came and recovered the bodies.
