Janmashtami celebrated in districts

The Hindu community people celebrated Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, on Monday across the country with due religious fervour. 

According to Hindu religion, Lord Vishnu incarnated in the universe as Lord Krishna in the prison of Raja Kangsa on this Day; the eighth of 'Shukla Pakkha' (bright fortnight) in the month of Bengali calendar Bhadra in Dwapara Yuga in order to protect 'Dharma' from the hands of evils. 

Sri Krishna was born to Devaki and her husband Vasudeva in Mathura. 

The Day is a public holiday in Bangladesh. 

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Bogura, Kishoreganj, Patuakhali and Rangamati.

BOGURA: On this occasion, different programmes were organized in the district. 

Bogura District Unit of Hindu Community Welfare Trust and District Puja Udjapan Parishad jointly brought out a rally from the Zilla School premises at around 11:30 am. The rally ended after parading the main streets of the town.

A number of Hindu community people from Sadar Upazila and Bogura Municipality participated in it.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held marking the birth of Lord Krishna. 

District Unit BNP President and former mayor of Bogura Municipality Rezaul Karim Badsha was present at the discussion as the chief guest.

General Secretary (GS) of District BNP and former chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Ali Azgar Talukder Hena attended the meeting as the special guest.

Executive Member of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Central Committee Dilip Kumar Deb, its District Unit GS Nirmal Kumar Roy, Bogura Municipality Unit President Parimal Prasad Raj and GS Dr Sujit Kumar Talukder, among others, also spoke at the programme.

KISHOREGANJ: In this connection, District Puja Udjapan Parishad organized different programmes in the town.

A discussion meeting was held at Kalibari Temple in the town in the morning. 

Brigadier General Toriqul Islam was present as the chief guest while District Puja Udjapan Parishad Convener Nitai Chandra Das presided over the meeting. 

Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Lt Col Riazul Karim, and Superintend of Police (SP) Mohammad Ressul Sheikh attended the programme as special guests.

Sree Sree Kalibari Temple Executive Committee President Ashim Sarker Badhon, District Puja Udjapan Parishad President Narayan Datta Pradip, and its GS Mrinal Kanti Majumder, among others, also spoke at that time.

In this year, Janmashtami rally was not brought out in Kishoreganj due to flood.
 
PATUAKHALI: To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in the district. 

The Day's programme began with lightening up 'Mangal Pradip' at Jindu Samaj Griha in the district town in the morning.
 
Patuakhali DC Nur Qutubul Alam inaugurated the week-long programme. 

After the inauguration, a rally was brought out from there, and it ended at the same place after parading main streets and various temple premises of the town.

A large number of devotees of Hindu community participated in the rally.

Earlier, a discussion meeting on the significance of the Day was held at Jindu Samaj Griha in the town.

DC Nur Qutubul Alam was present as the chief guest while President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Advocate Komol Dutta presided over the meeting. 

Additional SP (ASP) in Sadar Circle Md Sajedul Islam, District BNP Member Secretary Snehangshu Sarker Kutti, Project Director of Hindu Community Welfare Trust Utsab Mukhar Roy, District Unit President of Puja Udjapan Parishad Swapon Banarjee, and District Unit President of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian United Council Atul Das, among others, were also present at that time. 

RANGAMATI: Hindu community people celebrated Janmashtami in the district in a befitting manner.

Sreemang Swami Sajalanda Giri Moharaj, Sree Nitai Nupur Das Brahmachari and priest Ranadhir Chakrabarty inaugurated the Day's programme on Rangamati Municipality Office premises in the town in the morning after reading Geeta and lightening up 'Mangal Pradip'.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held there. 

Rangamati Zone Commander of Bangladesh Army Lt Col Ershad Hossain, PSC, was present at the discussion as the chief guest.

Additional DC (Revenue) Motachher Billah, ASP Md Saiful Islam, District BNP President Dipan Talukder Dipu, District Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Professor Alim, President of District Puja Udjapan Parishad Amalendu Hawlader, District Unit President of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian United Council Arup Mutsuddi, Convenor of Janmashtami Celebration Committee Debu Chakrabarty and its Member Secretary Mishu De, among others, also spoke on the occasion. 
  
After the discussion, a colourful rally was brought from Rangamati Municipality Office premises, and it ended on the DC office premises after parading the main streets of the town.
