To expedite the water receding, 40 sluice gates of the Muhuri River and 17 ones at Muchhapur have been opened.

Since Sunday (Aug 25), nine electricity lines have been active.

Vehicular movements on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway have been a bit normal since Sunday afternoon after four-day suspension.

Mobile network is still inactive in most of the areas. Two-thirds of the electricity links are lying disrupted.

Since the flooding in Feni army, navy, air force, BGB, Coast Guard, fire services, and different volunteer organisations are continuing their relief  and rescue services in Porshuram, Chhagalnaiya, Sonagazi, and Daganbhuiyan. They are using boat and speedboats.

Besides, local level relief distribution is also continuing.

Government organisations, universities, social organisations, and humanitarian organisations are carrying out continuing relief assistance.

As emergency medical services, seven medical camps have been installed in Sadar and six other upazilas.

Besides, six more medical camps have been opened in six private hospitals, including Concept Hospital, Medinova Hospital Medilab, Al Aksa Hospital, Z U Model Hospital, and Misson Hospital & Diagnostic Centre.

According to district administration sources, educational institutions in each upazila have been used as shelter centres. In these shelter centres, hotchpotch and dry food are being supplied.

District relief and rehabilitation branch sources said, so far, eight lakh people have been affected in Feni while 1.50 lakh people went to shelter centres.

Others have taken refuge on roofs of high buildings.

Already 60,000 packets of dry food have been distributed at the government-private level.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shahina Aktar said, in coordination with army, navy, air force, BGB,  Coast Guard, fire services, different volunteer organisations, students and general people are continuing their relief  and rescue services in affected areas.

If assistance is available from political persons, civil society, and people from all strata of life, it will be possible to conduct the relief activities in a nice way, she added.

Urging the businessmen to be humane, the DC said, "You don't increase prices of essentials by using the flood."

Now, with the flood receding, damaged scars are becoming visible; people are being affected by water-borne diseases; and drinking water and medicine are a crisis in Feni; and if emergency arrangement is not made, serious humanitarian crisis is very likely.

Adviser of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs Bir Muktijodda Faruq-e-Azam inspected flooded areas in Feni on Saturday.

He said, overseeing is going on across the country to face the flood situation; firstly lives of people need to be saved; in fact, people have taken responsibility to save each other.

All types of governmental assistance have been continuing, the adviser maintained.

Rain started in Feni since August 20. Later on, it started to drop heavily, and after the onrush of tide water from India, it caused the devastating flood.
