Awami League publicity and publications secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap was placed on seven-day remand and former head of news Shakil Ahmed and principal correspondent Farzana Rupa of Ekattor Television were placed on five-day remand in a case filed over the death of a garment worker Rubel during the mass protest.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mosharrof Hossain passed the order after investigation officer Mintu Chandra Banik, an inspector of Adabor Police Station, produced the trio before the court with a 10-day remand prayer in the case.
Md Helal Hossain, GRO of Adabor Thana confirmed the news to the Daily Observer on Monday evening.
On August 22, another Dhaka court placed Shakil and Rupa on four-day remand in a case filed with Uttara East Police Station over the murder of garment worker Fazlul Karim.
The defence lawyer submitted prayer to cancel the remand plea.
After hearing both the sides, the court put them in police custody for varying terms.
