Communication disrupted for broken road in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Aug 27: Communications between Rangamati-Kaptai-Rajasthali and Bandarban have been suspended due to the collapse of Ghaghra-Boroichhari Road in Kukimara area at No. 5 Wagga Union in Kaptai Upazila of the district.

The road collapse took place on Sunday morning, with slide in the beneath of the road.

This is the main road for the communication of Bandraban with Rangamati. 

Locals said, downpour for the last several days caused the road collapse.

President of Boroichhari CNG Owners Association Amir Hossain said, since the Sunday morning, all transport movement, except motor cycle, has been stooped on the road.

Chairman of the union Chiranjit Tonchonga said, the road also broke about two days back; but due to a heavy raining on Saturday, the road collapsed on Sunday morning; since the morning, the transport moving has been suspended; now Roads and Highways Department (RHD) is repairing the broken part.

RHD-Rangamati Executive Engineer Sabuj Chakma said, "We are doing repairing work since the morning. I went myself to the spot for supervising."

He further said, passengers of this road can use the Rangamati Assambosti-Kaptai road as the alternative.
