
Dr Md Sayedur Rahman has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University or BSMMU.
He is a professor and the chairman of BSMMU's Pharmacology department.
The health ministry issued a notification on Tuesday, announcing that he will perform the duties of the vice chancellor for four years.
According to the notification, Prof Sayedur Rahman will receive a monthly salary equivalent to his current position. He will complete the remainder of his tenure finalising the formalities of retirement from the post on reaching the age of regular service.
However, the notification also reads that his appointment can be cancelled at any point in time.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in the face of the student movement, the top posts of most government and many private offices were changed amid demands for reforms.
Prof Nurul Haque, who was appointed as the vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Medical College during the Awami League government, also had to step down. —bdnews24.com
