A Naogaon court on Wednesday sentenced two persons to death in a drug case filed in 2023.
At the same time, the court also fined them Tk 50,000 each.
Naogaon District and Sessions Court Judge Abu Shamim Azad announced the verdict at around 11:30.
The condemned convicts were Liton Mia, of Garai Para Gorstan Eidgah area in Chapainawabganj district, and Yusuf Ali of Charbagdanga area.
The court Public Prosecutor Abdul Khalek confirmed it.
According to the case statement, on August 18, 2023, on information, members of Rapid Action Battalion RAB-5 recovered 700 grams of heroin from Chataltala bridge at Saraidanga village under Patnitala upazila in Naogaon. At that time, tractor driver Liton Mia and Yusuf Ali were arrested.
Later, a case was registered against them Narcotics Control Act in this regard.
