A court in Dhaka has placed six Ansar personnel on a two-day remand each in a case filed on charges of carrying out attack on students, laying siege to the secretariat and ransacking it.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shakil Ahammed passed the order on Wednesday.

The Ansar personnel are Shariful Islam, Ahsan Habib, Moniruzzaman, Hasibur Rahman, Nasir Mia and Shafikul Islam, each of whom placed on a two-day remand.

Sub-inspector Shamim Mir of Shahbagh Police Station filed the case against 208 named and 3,000 more unnamed Ansar men on August 26.

Earlier on August 25, government gave assurance to fulfill the demand of Ansar members but they continued their demonstration around secretariat, blocking all the gates.

The agitated Ansar members did not leave the area and confined the Ansar and VDP director general, and some other members tried to enter the Secretariat by breaking gate no. 3.

Later, they clashed with students and people around 9pm, that left 50 people injured.
