Youth hacked dead in Gazipur

A youth was hacked to death by associates over sharing stolen goods at Tongi upazila in Gazipur district early Thursday.

The incident happened at around 3:00 AM in Keranir Teck area under Tongi West Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Selim Miah, 30, son of Billal Hossain, hailed from Narsingdi's Shibpur Police Station.

Shafayat Osman, sub-inspector of Tongi West Police Station, said that Selim was taken outside his house by his associates. During an altercation over the sharing of stolen goods, Selim was struck on the head with a machete, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took him to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
