Adviser Rizwana for eco-friendly construction in future projects

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Thursday has emphasized the need for constructing eco-friendly buildings in future projects under the ministry's departments.

She stated that building designs should allow work to be done during the day using natural sunlight without the need for electric lighting. The buildings must also be designed to ensure adequate airflow. Additionally, environmentally friendly construction materials, such as block bricks, should be used, a release said.

The Environment Advisor made these remarks on Thursday afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting held in the ministry's conference room to review the progress of the Annual Development Program for the fiscal year 2024-25 up to July.

The advisor also directed the Director General of the Department of Environment to work on raising awareness to prevent river pollution, noise pollution, and plastic pollution. She stressed the need for effective measures to stop the use of plastic banners. Accurate reporting is required for shipbreaking inspections. Additionally, she advised the Chief Conservator of Forests to focus on wildlife conservation, modern management of safari parks, and planting indigenous trees instead of eucalyptus.
