Jamaat donates Tk 13 lakh to seven martyrs of anti-discrimination student movement

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami donated Tk 13 lakh to the families of seven martyrs of anti-discrimination movement in two districts - Naogaon and Netrakona, in three days.  

NAOGAON: The family of an anti-discrimination student movement martyr got financial support in Panishail Village under Niamatpur Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

Raihan Kabir sustained bullet-wounds during the anti-discrimination student movement at Board Bazar area in Gazipur District on July 16 last. Subsequently, he succumbed to his injuries.

Son of Mamun Ali of Panishail Village under Niamatpur Upazila, Raihan Kabir went to Gazipur for computer training.

Organizational Assistant Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Rafiqul Islam handed over the bank cheque of Tk one lakh to Raihan's family members on Wednesday.

District unit leaders of the party Mawlana Habibur Rahman, Nawshad Ali, Amir Ibrahim, Delwar Hossain and Sultan Mahmud were also present during the distribution.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Rafiqul Islam said that many students including Raihan Kabir in Naogaon lost their lives to protect Bangladesh from the autocratic and fascist regime, and a new Bangladesh has emerged at the cost of their lives.

He also urged Raihan's family members not to be frustrated as their party and the government will remain beside them.

NETRAKONA: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami donated Tk 12 lakh to the family members of six martyrs, who were shot dead by police in Dhaka during the anti-discrimination student movement, at a function at Netrakona Press Club in the town on Monday.

The six martyrs are: Suhag Mia, 15, son of Shafayeth Mia of Borkhapon Village, and Ahadun Mia,18, son of Mojibur Rahman of Shampur Village under Kalmakanda Upazila; Jakir Hussain, 24, son of late Fazlu Mia of Bakaljura Village, and Saiful Islam, 32, son of late Sikandar Ali of Baroikandi Village under Durgapur Upazila; Ramzan Ali, 25, son of Liton Mia of Nondipur Village under Sadar Upazila; and Nazimuddin, 17, son of Rustam Ali of Bhatgaon Village under Barhatta Upazila in the district.

On the occasion of the distribution of money, Jamaat-e-Islami Netrakona District Unit organized a view-exchanging meeting with families of the martyrs at Netrakona Press Club.

Former ameer of District Unit Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Maulana Enamul Haque addressed the meeting as the chief guest while the its incumbent Ameer Professor Maulana Sadek Ahmed Haris was in the chair.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by District Jamaat-e-Islami General Secretary Professor Maulana Mahbubur Rahman and Member Secretary of Netrakona Press Club Mahbubul Kibria Chowdhury Halim.
