As part of the judicial reforms, 81 judges of the trial courts in different districts have been reassigned to new workplaces.
On Friday, four separate notifications were issued by the Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, announcing these transfers.
The notification said members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service have been assigned to or transferred to new workplaces in consultation with the Supreme Court.
As part of the changes, Joint Secretary (District Judge) of the Ministry (Law and Justice Division) Begum Umme Kulsum has been appointed as the secretary of the Law Commission. The incumbent Law Commission Secretary Sheikh Golam Mahbub has been made the judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Kushtia.
This distribution of responsibilities is to be effective by Sept 3. A total of 21 judges have been transferred, according to this notification.
In another notification, a total of 44 judges working in various districts have been reassigned to new workplaces. They too will assume their new roles by Sept 3.
In one notification, Judge Mohammad Asaduzzaman Khan of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Feni district has been appointed as the district and sessions judge of Chattogram. The fourth notification involved 15 individuals being assigned new duties.
