Bangladesh took control of the second match in the two-match Test series against Pakistan at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan as the guests wrapped up host for 274 runs after Mehidy Hasan Miraz's fifer on Saturday.

As the entire first day was washed out by rain, play on day 2 started at 10:45 am (BST), ahead of the scheduled 11:00 am start.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first making one change to their lineup with Taskin Ahmed replacing Shoriful Islam. Taskin made an immediate impact taking a wicket in his first over on his return to Test cricket after more than a year. He dismissed Abdullah Shafiq with the last ball of the over as the Pakistani opener failed to open the account.

Saim Ayub and Shan Masood then built a 107-run partnership, with both batters scoring fifties before falling to Miraz. Ayub scored 58 runs and Masood contributed 57. After their dismissals, Pakistan began losing wickets at regular intervals.

Miraz however, dropped an easy catch of Saud Shakeel at slip when he was on one run but Shakeel couldn't capitalize the chance and was dismissed for 16. Babar Azam scored 31, while Salman Ali Agha, who narrowly survived when batting on naught, scored 54 runs before being dismissed.

Pacer Nahid Rana broke Mohammad Rizwan's resistance as the wicketkeeper-batter departed for 29 runs. Mohammad Ali was dropped by Mominul Haque at short leg after scoring two runs but was dismissed in the next over without adding to his total. Abrar Ahmed was the last man out scoring nine as Pakistan were bowled out for 274 runs in their first innings.

Miraz hauled five wickets for 61 runs, while Taskin claimed three for 57. Nahid Rana and Shakib Al Hasan shared the remaining wickets. This was Miraz's 10th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

In reply, Bangladesh batted for two overs only and posted 10 runs without any loss in their first innings, though opener Shadman Islam was given a reprieve on the very first ball of the innings.
