Journalist couple Shakil Ahmed -Farzana Rupa was sent to jail on Saturday after remaining in remand twice in two separate murder cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury passed the order after Shakil and Rupa were produced before the court on completion of a five-day remand in second phase.
On the other hand former chief whip ASM Feroz was placed on fresh remand for three days by a Dhaka court on Saturday in a case filed over killing teenage boy Sohag Miah, during quota reform protests in Dhaka's Bhatara area on July 19.
Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order after Masudur Rahman, a sub-inspector at Bhatara Police Station and the investigation officer in the case produced Feroz with a prayer to grant a seven-day remand for further interrogation.
Former head of news at Ekattor Television, and Farzana Rupa, its principal correspondent were placed on a four-day remand by a Dhaka court on 26 August, in the Rubel murder case.
Earlier on 22 August, another Dhaka court placed the couple on a four-day remand each in a case filed over the killing of garment worker Fazlul Karim in the Uttara area during the student-led movement.
Shakil and Rupa were sacked on August 8and arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while they trying to leave the country on August 21.
Airport sources said they were trying to take a Turkish Airlines flight to go to France.
